Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is the use of effective design strategies to improve the safety and quality of urban environments. The aim of CPTED is to reduce opportunities for crime and create safe urban environments and in so doing increase the amenity, attractiveness and safety of our cities and towns.
CPTED
– Graffiti
In April 2011, the Attorney General announced the Government’s new focus on responding to graffiti offences.
The Department of Justice has dedicated a range of resources to addressing this offence, including the analysis of crime data to identify graffiti ‘hot spots’, and working with local councils to develop plans to prevent graffiti.
Applications for Graffiti Hot Spot CPTED Grants are available by invitation only to councils with the highest recorded incidents of graffiti.
